Ground Anchorages

  • Rock Bolts:Similar to soil nails but used specifically for rock. Steel bolts are anchored into rock to provide support and prevent rockfalls or instability.
  • Micropiles:Small-diameter piles, usually less than 300 mm in diameter, that are drilled and grouted into the ground to provide additional support and stability.
  • Post-Tensioned Anchors:Steel rods or cables are anchored into the ground or rock and then tensioned to provide additional support. Post-tensioning involves applying a pre-determined load to the anchorage.
  • Tiebacks:Similar to ground anchors, tiebacks are used to stabilize retaining walls and excavations by connecting them to stable ground or rock using steel rods or cables.
  • Grout: A cementitious or chemical mixture used to fill the annular space between the anchor rod and the drilled hole, ensuring that the anchor is securely bonded to the surrounding soil or rock.
